Manchester United and Tottenham to face off in all-English Europa League final

United steamroll Bilbao, Spurs do the job

Manchester United weren’t in the mood for surprises. Already leading comfortably after the first leg, they showed up at San Mamés with the same intent. A 4-1 win on the night, 7-1 on aggregate. Game over before it even started. Bilbao looked out of ideas, and United punished every mistake.

Tottenham didn’t hold back either. Up against Bodø/Glimt, they put five past the Norwegian side and cruised to a place in the final. The match never really felt balanced. Spurs looked sharper, faster, more in control — basically, a level above throughout the tie.

Not just about silverware

For both teams, this final is more than just another trophy. United need it to put a positive spin on a season full of mixed signals. A win in Bilbao wouldn’t fix everything, but it’d at least end things on a high.

For Spurs, it’s maybe even bigger. Ange Postecoglou has changed the way the team plays, but hasn’t had the results to match yet. A European title would put real weight behind what’s still seen by some as a “project in progress”.

Final set for May 21

The Europa League final will be played on May 21 at San Mamés, in Bilbao. Two Premier League sides, two very different journeys, one last clash. And, as always, a Champions League spot is on the line — a detail that changes everything.
