Jon Jones is doing wheelies in Thailand while Tom Aspinall’s losing patience. One holds the UFC heavyweight title. The other holds the interim belt. And right now? They’re not even in the same headspace.
“Call me a duck, I’m still enjoying my life”
Jones popped up on Instagram this week, riding a bike and answering fan questions. Some were blunt: why isn’t he fighting Aspinall? His answer was even blunter.
“I’ve got people in the chat calling me a duck,” Jones said, helmet on, mid-ride. “Meanwhile, I’m living my absolute best life. Don’t know if that counts as ducking. Doesn’t feel like it.”
At the moment, Jones isn’t in camp. He’s filming a reality show in Thailand with Nate Diaz — a sort of Russian version of The Ultimate Fighter called ALF Reality. Coaching, traveling, posting. Fighting? Not yet.
Aspinall wants clarity — or closure
Back in the UK, Tom Aspinall’s not laughing. On the High Performance Podcast, the interim champ sounded fed up.
“I’m literally the most dangerous guy in the UFC right now,” he said. “The stats back it. I’m big, I’m fast, and I’ve finished almost everyone quick. I think Jon knows that. I think he’s being smart and holding out for a better payday.”
Then came the line that hit harder than most punches: “I’m bored. Like, properly bored. Either we fight, or I move on.”
Still no fight, still no timeline
It’s been months since Jones last fought. Surgery, rehab, TV shows — lots of headlines, no cage time. Aspinall, meanwhile, blasted through Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 and hasn’t had a real opponent lined up since.
Fans want a unification bout. So does Aspinall. But unless something changes, it’s unclear if that fight happens this summer… or ever.
And the belt? It’s caught in the middle
Right now, the UFC heavyweight title feels stuck. Two champions. No contract. No date. Just tension, tweets, and tired fans waiting for the real fight to happen.
